Obama Administration Denies the Importation and Sale of Firearms

After previously approving the lawful importation of nearly one million antique American made M1 rifles from South Korea to the United States, the Obama administration suddenly revoked the authorization thereby denying the importation of these rifles. The administration’s justification for banning the import of these firearms relies upon the same false and disproven arguments used to justify the “assault weapons” ban back in 1994 and reflects current calls by the anti-Second Amendment crowd to restore and expand the ban.  These same bogus claims could also be used by the State Department to justify their denial of the lawful export of semi-automatic rifles. The previous “assault weapons” ban regulated detachable magazines with a capacity greater than 10-rounds. Not only does the M-1 not have a detachable magazine, its internal fixed-magazine can accept no more than 8-rounds.

Denying the importation of these rifles comes just after the White House touted its progress on reforming and improving export controls. How these reforms would impact the lawful export of firearms and ammunition products remains to be seen. NSSF is calling for a congressional hearing to investigate this ban.

Its a good move by obama administration to ban the importation of firearm. It will least affect the export of the country but it will much beneficial for the country to not import the firearms. As now USA should try to keep its economy on track instead of buying firearms.

Hillary and the administration are showing their true colors. The ban is useless and deprives honest citizens of the opportunity to purchase a piece of American history.

    What did you say?

I am not sure what you said. Why should the American public be denied access to American made product that resides in another country. It is once again false information that this administration clings to and makes decisions from. They do not want to know the truth.

acai energy, buying is how the economy gets on track! This is economics 101. Go back to your socialist country! Quit trying to make our country like the crap country you left! I am sick and tired of immigrants coming here wanting to change our heritage, history and lives. If your country was so great, GO BACK!

IIRC, the original idea was to bring back both M1 rifles and M1 CARBINES. Some idiot in Washington obviously believes ANY M1 is a carbine. Typical liberal. Can’t count.

Do you even know what you are saying????? IF you had any sense you would know that they are American made, a piece of our history, and they only hold 8 rounds. Go back to burying your head in the sand and stay out of our country. SINCE you like Socialism so much move to a country that is already like that.

This does not surprise me, but disappoints me. The Government already sells M1 Garrand rifles through the Civilian Marksman Office. How can this differ from those rifles sold by the government?

We have to be careful though, if the ROK just hands the guns back to the US there is a good chance the Obama Admin would have them melted down. I’d rather pay.
